Overview:
St. John the Baptist is the last of the Old Testament prophets and the bridge to the New Covenant. Chosen before his birth, he was sent to prepare the people for the coming of Christ through a call to repentance.
Living in the wilderness, John preached boldly, calling people to turn away from sin and be baptized. He recognized Jesus as the Lamb of God and humbly declared that he was not worthy even to untie His sandals.
John’s life was marked by courage and truth. He spoke against sin even at great personal cost, ultimately giving his life as a martyr. His witness reminds us that preparing the way for Christ requires humility, courage, and a willingness to decrease so that He may increase.
“He must increase, but I must decrease.”
John 3:30

Baptism of Jesus
